Laborers in Christ Inc. organization (LIC) started when a group of like-minded believers from Metro Detroit, USA and Windsor, Canada joined together for the extension of the Kingdom of God. We are a group of Christians from different denominations but one purpose, to create an inter-denominational Christian organization. Our calling is to primarily serve the South Asian community residing in South east Michigan and the Midwest of US. The objective of the ministry is to reach out to Indians of south Asian origin but we have not neglected service to other communities, groups and nationalities. We also are keen on building up young Christians and encouraging them to actively take up leadership roles in serving the society. We aim to train up ministry oriented Christians who will have a passion for the kingdom and rise up to their calling. The aim of the ministry is threefold- 1) To reach out to the lost, share the gospel and make disciples for Christ 2) Building up the Christian community and fellowship with believers, 3) Providing food and hygiene kits to the lesser privileged sections of the community in the city of Detroit . The reason we do this is to fulfill the Great Commission to be the salt and light of the world and have Christ like compassion and help the poor and needy. The core of our outreach ,activities and ministry is Christ like love and the heart of our mission is humanity.
Building up Fellow Believers
One of the unique natures of our work is that we actively seek to spur individual believers to acts of evangelism. We do this through 4 ways.
The acronym ROPI will help explain clearly.
- Resources - providing gospel materials for people to use in outreach.
- Opportunities - providing opportunities such as being a part of the team going to visit homeless, being part of specific events such as Christmas Outreach, Independence Day booth member, etc.
- Platform - providing a venue through which people can reach out.
- Ideas - providing people with ideas that they can implement in their own communities.
- We also travel to other cities when opportunity arises to help interested believers implement an evangelistic outreach program. We offer free consultation as well as materials when required.
Living by Faith
All of the items provided via public and door-to-door ministry as well as going to other cities or mailing materials are provided free of charge.. The funding for these come primarily from the believers who are part of the Laborers in Christ ministry as well as from others who are prompted to give as led by the Lord. We do not send out any requests for money nor do we run any special programs to raise funds. This ministry is run solely by the grace of the Lord working through the willing hearts of his people. Having said that, we are also very conscious of the fact that we are required to be good stewards of the money entrusted in our care. We realize that we will give an account to the Lord for our lives which includes how we handled finances entrusted in our care [2 Cor 5:10]. Therefore, we strive to act with integrity before an all-knowing and all-seeing God and also before people [Acts 24:16].
Purpose
Our sole purpose is to see the Lord Jesus Christ magnified by the advancement of the gospel. We believe God has given us his very best his Son to die on the cross for our sins. And out of love and gratitude, we seek to love him by obeying his command to be faithful witnesses in taking the gospel to our communities. We strive to do this locally where we live as well as be a means through which others could be encouraged to do the same in their communities. While we keep praying for the Lord of the harvest to raise laborers, we also recognize that we must be willing to be such a laborer as well. We simply keep trusting in the Lord to use us as he sees fit.
LIC's Mission
Fulfill the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ by serving the poor with practical essential items and by distributing Gospel materials at India Day events across the Midwest cities of USA and conducting Christmas meeting to reach family, friends and colleagues.
Vision
To see the Kingdom of God advance by building people's lives through the propagation of the Good news of Jesus Christ and also to demonstrate the love of God by remembering the poor and helping them with practical daily items. (According to 2 Peter 2:5 “Like Living stones are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God thru Jesus Christ”)
